"notes": "01 Sonic the Hedgehog - Green Hill Zone (From 2004)\nComposed by Masato Nakamura\nThis was part of a pitch for a project that didn’t happen. But when I listen to it now, I’m impressed that this is nearly 20\nyears old and it still jams. Love it!\n02 Mega Man 8 - Search Me (feat. Anthony Lofton) (From 2004)\nFeaturing Anthony Lofton on Piano\nComposed by Shusaku Uchiyama\nSo long ago that I don’t remember why I would dip into Mega Man 8, a game I have never played. But I really dig the vibe, and I love Anthony’s piano. I can always hear him, no matter what instrument he’s playing.\n03 Animal Crossing - Soul Swatter (From 2008)\nComposed by Toru Minegishi\nThis was my first attempt for the Joe_Cam “Animal Crossing” arrangement project. It didn’t quite hit right so I went back and made “I Got Soul” featuring Anthony Lofton on soprano sax. But I always thought this was pretty decent.\nReminded me of the 2nd Fly Swatter music in Mario Paint.\n04 M&Ms Mini Madness - virt's Madness (From 2002)\nComposed by Jake Kaufman\nI made this years ago for OverClocked ReMix. I may not have been the first to do so, but I wanted to arrange something from a game that someone from the scene composed. Jake Kaufman (known as virt) went on to compose many excellent soundtracks for games, including fan favorite “Shovel Knight.”\n05 M.C. Kids - po kidz (From 2001)\nComposed by Charles Deenen\nPosu Yan is one of my favorite arrangers to this day. I wanted to pay tribute to him. He often picked the games less traveled and I tried to emulate elements of his style. Plus, who knew the soundtrack to a McDonald’s game would be so incredible?\n06 The Legend of Zelda - Lean Green Link Machine (From 2012)\nComposed by Koji Kondo\nThis is the demo that I made for The OneUps so that they would understand the groove I wanted for what ultimately became “I Do It For the Faeries” from the “Intergalactic Continuum” album.\n07 Final Fantasy VI - I Got That Magitek, Girl (From 2011)\nComposed by Nobuo Uematsu\nI really liked the idea of a sexxy Magitek factory music rendition, and while I like what I started here, I never found the right esper to go with it. Still a great groove.\n08 Chrono Trigger - The Dreamer Awakens (From 2002)\nComposed by Yasunori Mitsuda\n2002 was a prolific and important year for me. It seems like I was churning out music at a ferocious pace. Chrono Trigger remains a huge inspiration. Never found the right idea for this, but this is a fun listen in its own right.\n09 Chrono Trigger - Palace (From 2009)\nComposed by Yasunori Mitsuda\nThis is an abandoned demo from the Bad Dudes’ CHRONOTORIOUS album. Ultimately, it was too simple and laid back for such a notoriously hard-hitting album. It’s a cool vibe, though.\n10 Chrono Trigger - Secrets (From 2009)\nComposed by Yasunori Mitsuda\nThis is the precursor to the “Forest Steppin’” track on the Bad Dudes’ CHRONOTORIOUS album. You can hear how far I got with this version, but it was just too harsh. I’m so glad that I went back and restarted by keeping some ideas, and taking even more direct influence from MJ Cole. This is a fun listen, but my final track is one I listen to over and over to this day.\n11 Chrono Trigger - Schala for Steph (From 2016)\nComposed by Yasunori Mitsuda\nA track that didn’t make the cut from my album, THEW ORLD ISSQ UARE. I was really working hard on thisl I had every intention of having someone replace the flute, but I couldn’t figure out where to go. However, the major chords inspired the next abandoned demo, “Schala.”\n12 Chrono Trigger - Schala (From 2017)\nComposed by Yasunori Mitsuda\nA track that didn’t make the cut from my album THEW ORLD ISSQ UARE. I could never figure out how to continue “Schala for Steph” but the major chords in that arrangement gave me this great idea to flip the track into a major key. I bet a lot of people would find this blasphemous, but if it wasn’t wildly different, it wouldn’t be a Mustin track. Still, I never found the full spark to finish this one.\n13 The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - Linebeck (From 2008)\nComposed by Kenta Nagata\nI think Linebeck might be my favorite Zelda character. I love how his pompous theme fits his personality. I wanted to make a version of his music that wasn’t just swashbuckling, but the rest of the groove never hit me. But it’s still fun to listen to this little taste of a rizzed up Linebeck.\n14 Final Fantasy VII - Lifestream (From 2017)\nComposed by Nobuo Uematsu\nA track that didn’t make the cut from my album THEW ORLD ISSQ UARE. When I asked Jayson Napolitano of Scarlet Moon Records to be the Executive Producer on my album, I asked if he had any requests. He chose “Lifestream,” but I couldn’t find a way to make it fit into the groove of the album. The mood is pretty cool, though. Maybe it’ll inspire you.\n15 Castlevania - Heart of Fire Vamp (From 2001)\nComposed by Kinuyo Yamashita\nIn the early days of the video game music arrangement scene, I was trying all kinds of stuff. “Heart of Fire” has always been a favorite Castlevania tune of mine. While this version is very cool and different, I never found a way to continue on and finish it. Thankfully, I did finally do the track in 2021 as “Hearth of Fire” for the Scarlet Moon Christmas release that year. Whereas this track is funky with a weird meter, the version I ultimately made sounds like a Hallmark\nChristmas Movie soundtrack. Do check it out.\n16 Super Mario Series - Super Mario R.A.P. (From 2004)\nComposed by Koji Kondo\nI wanted to hear a rap with Luigi, Toad, Mario, and Bowser, so I put together a demo of what their sections would sound like. Never did get that rap to happen, but this is pretty cool. That Bowser beat tho!\n17 Super Mario Series - I, Mario Project Bid (From 2005)\nComposed by Koji Kondo\nIn 2005, Shael Riley asked, “What would the Mario series be like if it was a dystopian horror game?” It was eventually dubbed, “I, Mario,” and the message boards came alive with all manner of amazing short stories and incredible artwork. I created this demo of what the music could potentially sound like. Now, in 2023, we have seen many examples of what this might be, but in 2005, we were having a great time using our imaginations.\n18 Final Fantasy IV - Napolitano Beauty Ringtone (From 2017)\nComposed Nobuo Uematsu\nFor Jayson Napolitano’s birthday in 2017, I made him this ringtone as a gift. His favorite Final Fantasy IV music is “Troian Beauty” so I cooked this up for him. Feel free to use it yourself.\n19 Sunset Riders Fangamer Commercial - 01 Greedwell's (From 2018)\nComposed by Mustin\nI was asked by video game merch company Fangamer to create the soundtrack for an officially sanctioned commercial for the Konami game “Sunset Riders.” I played this game so much throughout my life so I had a blast. This tune is an original composition that sets the mood.\n20 Sunset Riders Fangamer Commercial - 02 Simon (From 2018)\nOriginal Title: “Omae mo kore made da !”\nComposed by Motoaki Furukawa\nIt was so nice to hear this tune with some real instruments. I got to make it just as I heard it in my head all these years.\nWilliam Carlos Reyes on guitars. David Ortiz on trumpets.\n21 Sunset Riders Fangamer Commercial - 03 Sunset (From 2018)\nOriginal Title: “Men of the wilderness”\nComposed by Motoaki Furukawa\nBeing able to reconstruct this piece into an Ennio Morricone Spaghetti Western style arrangement was a dream come true. I loved the idea of reversing the sections, which worked out perfect for the video. I REALLY wanted to go back and make this a full arrangement but my project file IS CORRUPTED! Not very often that this happens but them's the breaks. That said, the second section is one of my most proud musical accomplishments of my life so far. Hopefully I’ll\nbe able to revisit this style again. David Ortiz on trumpets. William Carlos Reyes on guitar in the second section.\n22 The Legend of Zelda 2002 - Link's Theme\nFrom “The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening”\nComposed by Koji Kondo & Kozue Ishikawa\nAn isolated audio section from the audio drama “The Legend of Zelda 2002” from New Year’s Day 2002. I wanted to make an energetic version of the Zelda theme since it would be the only time we hear it in the audio drama. It also includes the additional section from the “Link’s Awakening” version that I love so much. During this part of the audio drama, Link is riding Epona to save princess Zelda.\n23 The Legend of Zelda 2002 - In the Dungeon\nFrom “The Legend of Zelda”\nComposed by Koji Kondo\nAn isolated audio section from the audio drama “The Legend of Zelda 2002” from New Year’s Day 2002. One of my top favorite pieces of video game music. An extended version of this eventually made its way to the “More Than Mario” Album from 2006.\n24 The Legend of Zelda 2002 - Run\nFrom “The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening”\nComposed by Kazumi Totaka\nAn isolated audio section from the audio drama “The Legend of Zelda 2002” from New Year’s Day 2002. Another favorite from “Link’s Awakening.” Gotta go fast!\n25 The Legend of Zelda 2002 - Ganon's Castle\nFrom “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past”\nComposed by Koji Kondo\nAn isolated audio section from the audio drama “The Legend of Zelda 2002” from New Year’s Day 2002. It was fun to make such a different take on the theme. To go from brooding to break beats - so much fun.\n26 The Legend of Zelda 2002 - Battle with Ganon\nFrom “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past”\nComposed by Koji Kondo\nAn isolated audio section from the audio drama “The Legend of Zelda 2002” from New Year’s Day 2002. This is one of my favorite arrangements that I’ve made. It’s just so driving and exciting. I think that piano bass line is one of Kondo’s best. I find it faithful but with a modern twist.\n27 The Legend of Zelda 2002 - Boss Clear\nFrom “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past”\nComposed by Koji Kondo\nAn isolated audio section from the audio drama “The Legend of Zelda 2002” from New Year’s Day 2002. A good Zelda ringtone if you need one.\n28 The Legend of Zelda 2002 - Princess Rescued\nFrom “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past”\nComposed by Koji Kondo\nAn isolated audio section from the audio drama “The Legend of Zelda 2002” from New Year’s Day 2002. A good Zelda ringtone if you need one. Maybe even a text notification sound.\nAggregrated credits:\nComposers:\n01: Masato Nakamura\n02: Shusaku Uchiyama\n03: Toru Minegishi\n04: Jake Kaufman\n05: Charles Deenen\n06, 16, 17, 23, 25~28: Koji Kondo\n07, 14, 18: Nobuo Uematsu\n08~12: Yasunori Mitsuda\n13: Kenta Nagata\n15: Kinuyo Yamashita\n19: Mustin\n20, 21: Motoaki Furukawa\n22: Koji Kondo & Kozue Ishikawa\n24: Kazumi Totaka\nPiano\n02: Anthony Lofton",
