It was the first Japanese vocal group, ever to perform at that prestigious annual jazz event held in that Californian town.\nTime Five was first organized in 1968 by five schoolmates just after graduation from Doshisha University in Kyoto. They were Y. Tai, lead vocals percussion, S. Noguchi, 2nd vocals & electric bass, S. Teshigahara, 3rd vocals & trombone, H. Yoshimura, 4th vocals & keyboard and K. Sugie, 5th vocals & flute. They had the ambition of becoming a top-notch vocal group like the Four Freshmen or the Hi Lo's of the United States. In the eighteen years since their inception, they have developed into the most swinging and musically polished male vocal group in Japan and have been recognized as an internationally applicable unit.\nThis CD album contains seventeen selections recorded over the past four years and includes \"Lazy River\" and \"When I Fall In Love\", both of which were performed at Monterey and were rewarded with a long standing ovation by the listening crowd.
